Kalymnos, one of the best Rock Climbing Centers in Europe 4th Rock Climbing Festival of Kalymnos 22-26 May 2009 In the island of Kalymnos, during the last few years, a great interest in climbing has been developed. In October 2004, the "2nd International Climbing Festival of Kalymnos" was held. The period of time between 2-8 October 2004, proved too short to satisfy all those who participated in the festival. Instead, it urged them to visit the island again !!!
Famous climbers, in their effort to open or to conquer new routes, realise, with admiration, the inexhaustible challenges that are offered. More than 600 people took part in the event. World champions like Liv Sanszoz, Guy Abert, Daniel Dulac, Dave Graham, Francois Legrand, Michel Piola, Hans Weninger, Simone Moro, Manolo. From the Greeks ... Pavlos Tsiantos, Thomas Mihailidis, Giorgos Voutiropoulos and a lot of other known and unknown, however worthy climbers. Photographers and journalists of popular magazines, Sam Bie, Jeff Achey, David Munilla, Lenia Mandrou, Vaios Karalaios … The pioneers of climbing, Andrea and Helen di Bari and also, Aris Theodoropoulos, would not be absent. "Kalymnos is one of the most important climbing fields in the World" said Andrea di Bari to Lenia Mandrou (Anevainontas) "This moment, there are more than 600 routes and many more can be opened."
